TAKAYOSHI TERAJIMA

During the pandemic Takayoshi Terajima began taking interest in the information presented on the screens of video meetings. Two-dimensional images of people and their personal belongings, things like bookshelves and posters in the background became almost like an extension of the person. The Corona-restrictions were removed and life went back to more real life than digital life, but the video calls with the family in Japan had made Takayoshi Terajima, who lives in Germany, more connected to his roots. As a reflection of his identity he let AI use not only his name and birthday, but also family structure, religion, nationality, and other information to make “self portraits”. The images were then refined with engraving, a traditional technique with a long history, and the result is work with depth in both time, space and emotion.
